This week, we have had some new reels in from Avid and Daiwa, which both look set to be popular reels in the carp world going into 2018….
First up for the new reel is the next evolution in the renowned Basia range. Introducing the new and refined Daiwa 17 Basia 45SLD.
By using a slimmer magnesium body profile, they have managed to decrease the overall weight of the reel, whilst increasing the spool depth, helping to achieve super long-distance performance.
Furthermore, enhancements to the main shaft and gearing have made this Basia even tougher than any of its predecessors.
Whereas, other high-performance features have been maintained such as Quick Drag and the High Impact Line Clip. Furthermore, the all black finish with the wooden handle looks very Stylish and Carpy! With a retail price of £675.00, they are very much the crème de la crème of reels, but if you have that amount of money to spend on a set of these reels, then you will not find anything better!
Next up is the latest flagship reel from Avid, the ACR12000. There reels are the result of a 2 year development process and Avid believe that these reels are the perfect combination of balance, power and durability.
Following with the current trend the reels are all black, giving an understated but stylish look, and a long tapered spool with a super slow oscillation make fishing at distance a breeze, whereas, 7 stainless steel ball bearings and 1 roller bearing not only give the ACR 12000 a silky-smooth feel but also help to the lifespan and durability.
This new reel at a price of only £109.99, and in a very competitive market, this reel looks sure to become a popular workhorse and we expect to see a fair few of them on the banks very soon!
